Was ist Caninsulin?
Caninsulin® ist ein verschreibungspflichtiges Medikament, welches das blutzuckersenkende Hormon Insulin enthält und zur Behandlung von Diabetes mellitus beim Hund und Diabetes mellitus bei der Katze angewendet wird. Der Besitzer spritzt dem Hund oder der Katze die Insulin-Lösung unter die Haut.
Wie wirkt Caninsulin?
Bei diabetischen Hunden erreicht die Wirkung von Caninsulin® auf die Blutglukose-Konzentration ihr Maximum 4 – 8 Stunden nach der Injektion und dauert 14 – 24 Stunden an. Bei diabetischen Katzen wird die maximale Wirkung auf den Blutglukosespiegel 4 – 6 Stunden nach der Injektion erzielt und hält 8 – 12 Stunden an.

What is the difference between Lente Cho and Vetsulin/Caninsulin?
The difference between them is: Vetsulin/Caninsulin is made by Intervet for veterinary use and is a U40 strength insulin–the Lilly and Novo insulins were U100 strength. U40 insulin is more convenient for small animals since it’s more dilute and you can therefore give fine doses more easily. Lente CHO is a U80 insulin.

How do you use a Vetsulin needle?
After washing your hands, take the Vetsulin (porcine insulin zinc suspension) vial out of the refrigerator. Shake the vial until the insulin is uniformly milky, allowing any foam to disperse. Carefully remove the cap from the needle and insert the needle into the vial.
